Here at La Segunda we pride ourselves in our craft and ability to make authentic Cuban bread. As a Bench hand you will learn techniques that we have been using for over 100 years and have kept us connected to the history of Ybor City. When you join our team, you will be report to the Master Baker. Your production line position prepares the loaves to be baked by the Oven Men.

Opportunities for multiple shifts including overnight. Background check will be provided. Training provided and an opportunity to grow with our company!

*PLEASE NOTE: This is not a pastry or baking position or a customer service position. This is a bread production manufacturing (high volume, fast paced) position. This is a fast-paced, labor intensive production line position and you will stand and lift for long periods of time. *


  • Reports directly to the Master Baker on the shift
  • Come to work with clean, neat appearance and in uniform
  • Responsible for ripping one box of leaves before shift starts
  • Chop, wash, and split palmetto leaves
  • Set up, operate, and clean scaler
  • Set up, operate, and clean rounder
  • Set up, operate, and clean molder
  • Organizes Boleo
  • Weighing and scaling dough
  • Place palmetto leaves on each loaf
  • Roll bread when necessary
  • Measure loaves & Counts boards
  • Work as a team to clean machinery and workspace after your shifts
  • Fills out blue operations book daily based on shift’s details
  • Maintain La Segunda Bakery’s high standards for product Quality
  • Abide by the health department requirements and maintain a clean work area
  • Responsible for an assigned clean up task at shift conclusion
  • Assisting in other duties as assigned by Master Baker or Manager



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Positive, enthusiastic, team-oriented attitude
  • Must be available at least one weekend day a week
  • Able to understand and follow instruction
  • Food preparation experience preferred
  • Able to work well with others
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • A team player attitude
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. overhead
